Križevci

The town of Krizevci (Kőrös), about 3.5 hours’ drive from the Villány wine region, is a town in the Croatian Kapronca-Kőrös county. There are beautiful mountains and vineyards in the area, and the city also offers a really beautiful view. Several small wineries make wine around the city, which they like to present at events to the delight of local residents. Križevci is one of the oldest medieval towns in Northern Croatia. Already in 1193 it gained the status of a free royal town. This town of a long and turbulent past was host to 38 status meetings called „Sabor“, one of which was the infamous „bloody sabor of Križevci“ of the year 1397.

Denis Bužić Pincéje

The family has been engaged in wine production for more than 40 years. They currently produce Graševine, Muscat Yellow, Pinot Gris, Rhenish Riesling, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Traminac Fragrant, Zweigelt, Silvanac Green wine varieties on 5 ha and PIWI table varieties on 0.5 ha.

In production approx. 1 ha with fruit varieties and approx. 20 ha with field culture and approx. They have 10 goats. In addition to production on their own land, they also undertake soil preparation, civil engineering, landscaping, and services related to vineyards and orchards.

Current production is around 200 hl of wine per year (20,000 l). Currently, wine is sold in restaurants, nightclubs and cafes around Križevci, as well as at the winery.

Events in Križevci

In the course of the year, numerous events are taking place in town, starting from the most well known Križevačko veliko Spravišče, which for nearly half a century has given Križevci the reputation to be a very hospitable place. Among the other events, the celebration in honour of the wine saints Sv. Vinko („Vincekovo“) and Sv. Martin („Martinje“) are worth mentioning as well as the Križevci carnival, the days of the Croatians saints and blesseds, the trade and crafts fair of the County of Koprivnica-Križevci and the day of St. Marko Križevčanin.
